Idiotbox
I hardly watch the idiotbox. Given the circumstances of my living conditions, you'd think its normal. But even when I am on long (is two weeks deemed long??) holiday breaks, or in the last four weeks that I've permanently moved back home, you wouldn't find me in front of the idiotbox either. It's that I just don't have time! I just can't sit still in front of the box for hours at the time when there's that fat book I've been wanting to pick up. just. sitting. there...
Though, I've follow television series such as Big Bang Theory, Chuck and my newest addiction for 2 Broke Girls, I very seldom sprint off on marathon sessions on the couch until 5 am for consecutive days.
It is beyond me how people can engulf a forty episode drama series; 40 minutes per episode, in just three days. How?!! No need sleepeatshit is it?
Though...
I grew up watching A LOT of cartoons and children's programme, when I mean A LOT — it's alot! This pair of glasses comfortably perched on the bridge of my nose is a dead giveaway. I must have watched every episode of Sesame Street, twice at least D:
I remember how I used to wake up at 8 every morning to catch my fav cartoons on telly as a kid — no alarms necessary. Talk about dedication!
Sometimes I wish these cartoons would continue on, as I genuinely believe the cartoons of my generation were the best, and well suited for generation today as well.
Flipped through Cartoon Network recently and I have absolutely no idea what is so appealing about the cartoons now, or perhaps I'm growing up?

Dissonant, Disoriented & Undefined
So it took me two years to get from that dissonant, disoriented and undefined state to where I am comfortably perched today. It took several tries but I guess the saying "third times a charm" rings true in this case.

Squeezed
We get lots of squeezes in life. Some are good ones, like hugs and orange juice. Some are not so good. At times we get squeezed too tight and need to take a breather. Other times, we become obsessed in achieving that one thing that it engulfs everything on the horizon; we lose sight of the bigger picture. We often take on too much. More than we can handle. Too much food on the plate, so to speak. We all want to get the most out of life, but some people seem to squeeze more out of it than others. This month I am trying to embrace the good and the bad squeezes equally :)

Yes. Ter. Day(s)
The person you want to be does exist. Somewhere in the other side of hard work, and faith and belief and beyond heartache and fear of what lies ahead. One Tree Hill.
I love to shower. It is the most stress-releasing moment of the day and I absolutely love smelling good
Good GOOD food. Thank you dad :D

It's A Love/Hate Relationship
This introduction is for the benefit of those who are unprivileged and lack of details on my personal day to day life.
If you really are that clueless, I am currently pursuing my lifelong dream to be a super duper tip top accountant sitting in crimson red swirl leather chair in a high end office pretending to auditing spreadsheets while I am actually admiring the view and sniggering at the guy below who’s picking his nose thinking nobody’s watching. Hehee. That myth you heard that accountants are superboring people? Not true. For I am a living proof; well known for my capabilities to stun with my ffk-ing abilities, spring into tears any moment, jakuness and quirky rants. Unless you find points to argue that I meet the requirements of a boring individual, I have no further arguments.
And oh, I am in TARC by the way. This college of mine is in the faraway ulu lands of Setapak which is in Wangsa Maju, somewhere near Cheras (you know that place with the Connought Pasar Malam, apparently the longest one around) and a bus ride away to KL, that is as much as I can tell you even after all these months. Given that college isn’t a stone throw away from home and traveling everyday would be tiresome and unimaginable.
Thus, I am hostel bound. And that would instantly mean that I share a room with a fellow pmsing female, sharing the space, light source and air that I breath, using common bathrooms, unappealing canteen food, having the urge to burn the next door’s slipper every once in a while, not having to clean washrooms, finding bowls containing the remains of chilli panmee that look like it had been there for nearly over a week in the pantry and instantaneously killing my appetite.
Welcome to my life.
I may sound like I totally hate my college life. Very contrary to that, I quite like it. I’m comfortable with it. No offense, but I especially like the freedom and independence. No one’s gonna glare at me from over the table when I push the fish to the side of my plate, right dad? The only problem that I do have apart from the language barrier thing, would be being away from home.
Yah yah, I know I just contradicted with myself -______-
But it’s true. I used to cry everyday. Try being dumped into a place, totally foreign for the second time within three months. Damn tulan loh. It was here that I discovered that mastering a single language has both its reward and drawbacks. At very least, I wasn’t expected to join in bimbotic conversations about who and who did what with whom and the drama of it all.
Collegewise pulak, I’m getting better at it. I recognize all the buildings now. I can make my way from one canteen to the other one four times and back without getting lost, just don’t ask why I was walking back and forth four times. Tension saje.
I go for classes with three other girls; Sheryl Sook Huei and Shalanee, and together, that makes us a foursome. Sheryl with her obsession for sports and body parts, Sook Huei with eccentric sense of fashion and Shalanee who’s nearly always attached to the phone. Our personalities are as different as the sun and ocean and for the same reason I get so bengang sometimes. I am not f**king Mother Teresa okay, so don’t expect me to be all pleased, patient and forgiving 24 hours a day, seven days a week, four weeks a month.
Occasionally, on our good days, we’ll call in pizza delivery or throw a maggi gathering when the almighty rain gets in the way of great plans in the making. And we did celebrate new year's together, so it isn't all that bad :)
Things I hate about college life
- Waking up at 6.45am for the 8am classes. Thus, my natural alarm clock is preset at seven something. And that includes Saturday and Sundays. What am I to do so freaking early in the morning. No one would wake up that early to go for breakfast.
- Accidentally pressing the 'off' button on my phone, which means oversleeping and rushing to be in time for classes
- Empty eerie toilet stalls. I DON’T KNOW WHY but hostelians hardly ever shower in the mornings. I really really cannot understand this kind of people loh. How do they focus in class without freshening up? If I did what they did, I’d be in class alright, but my head will never surface from the table top.
- Deciding what to wear. Ahahahaa. Once upon a time I was complaining over boring tacky school uniforms.
- Rushing down breakfast, rushing when I brush my teeth, rushing when I find my keys and leave the room with one sock on. Aaaaah.
- Guessing whether the other threesome will be there waiting by the gate or will I be the one doing the waiting.
- Fishing deep in my bag for IDs to flash to the guard. It is annoying giler okay. It's not like I have five hands you know. Dah la rushing for time already, you expect me to be all understanding that you’re just doing your job which I don’t see a point in. Who would sneak into tarc for the FUN of it? Tell me.
- Walking past tinted classrooms. I always feel that people are watching me. HAHA.
- Texting half the classmates to check which class I'm supposed to go to.
- Being the last person to reach class, which isn't that often, really. Salute Sheryl for taking up that position.
- Climbing up three flights of stairs for 8am classes.
- Climbing up and down the stairs when we switch classes.
- Walking with my heavy bag.
- Deciding where/what to eat for lunch. When you have an indecisive bunch like the foursome, who’s thoughts falter every three seconds and each of us having a different cravings, it is no easy task as it may seem to be.
- Deciding what/where to do during breaks.
- Internet connection in the library.
- When it deliberately rains on the days I carefully choose to wear shoes.
- BM and English classes. *groans*
- Replacement classes.
- The constant series of tests and exams. There just is no rest from it la wei.
- Getting used to not watching tv and having minimal source of entertainment. -_______-
- Not having normal holidays. Sibeh tulan okay.
- Knowing its going to end in two weeks.
Things I love about college life
- The peace and quietness in the mornings.
- The after morning showers sensation.
- Deciding what to wear.
- Being on time.
- Napping in between classes. Oh, the bliss of it.
- Knowing that someone is counting on me.
- Getting a drift of my lessons.
- Watermelon slices for only 50cents.
- Being able to crash other course’s lecture in the event of oversleeping.
- Having friends I can depend on.
- Discovering new abilities and that I actually am quite capable in certain aspects.
- The supercool soon-to-come 24hours computer centre !!!
- Fridays and coming home.
- Not having to wonder what/where to eat on Friday evenings.
- Random outings.
- Days with no BM/English classes.
- Bumping into friends. And the random things we do.
- The PR students final project. Once they had a multicultural exhibition - Faces Of Malaysia which I really really liked. And recently there was Trashion or something which was held to increase awareness about the amount of rubbish that is covering the world. Surreal in a way you would never imagine.
- Visits to Room 410.
- Knowing its going to end in two weeks. I am in need of a change of environment, just for a week or two please :D

You Made It Happen
And so, it's been a whole month since I've stepped into eighteenhood. Until this moment, dare I say, it’s been fun; considering the privileges that came along with the big one eight. I’ve been enjoying it, making my way into 18sx movies without a glitch , getting a RED bank card of my own and such. But until recently, I hadn’t realize that there was a trade off, that I might not get away with what mindlessly innocent excuses or fit into places where I’d been comfortable.
And you would agree with me that we learn and experience new things everyday, no? Ah well, today I found out my blood type! Yes yes.. in addition to not knowing what my chinese name means, unable to use a chopstick and differentiate one dialect from another and sit in a massage chair without revealing my jakuness, I also dont know my blood type. But I finally know it! Because Chris and I were suppose to meet up and study for next week’s tests but he wanted to head over to college hall for the blood donation event going on, I jumped at the chance. I’ve always always wanted to give away my blood for a good cause. But my fear for doctors and needles are too….overpowering.
The thought of it just paralyzes me fear. Having a chopstick thick needle sticking down my arm I mean, not the blood part.
And so, I’ve always come up with a string of reasons not to donate. Not that it wasn’t true, because I was underage and I was outside the healthy weight range, until recently that is. Failing driving more than once has sent me into the deepest ends of depression has ever seen. And thus, my appetite has been massively growing. That’s why I hate it so much when I get depressed over a matter and tend to be unaware of how much I eat.
Eh, wait. I'm sidetracking again.
The entire process from filling in forms asking funny, nitty gritty questions on my health history to moment of walking out the hall a certified donor took nearly two hours. I amazingly managed to extend the whole process with my super abilities of noobness, don't ask :)

After the paperwork was done and dealed with, we had to wait to have our blood type identified by having our finger pricked. That was no ant bite okay Chris, you big bluffer. And and…there was some complications going on when identifying my blood type and pea brain Botak behind me had to wonder aloud if I was an alien. Eh can don’t say thing like a moment like this ah. I almost believed in it okay. Anyhow, matters got resolved after several more tests. Chris’s an O-type and I’m an AB. So contrast lah the both of us, I can receive blood from all blood types while he can donate to all blood types but only receive from the same blood type.
After having our blood pressure and collecting the ‘goodie bag’ containing test tube, sticky labels, a brilliant red booklet where each time I donate it'll be recorded in it, evil needle and the blood bag of course, we were strapped to the chair by the arm.
I asked nearly everyone I knew in that hall if it was gonna hurt, and I could swear they secretly ganged up to come up with the common idea that it wouldn’t hurt a slightest bit. I believe people way too easily. Because it DID hurt, very painful pulak tu.
The process of having the needle shoved into the right vein is NOT a quick and painless. Particularly when there’s a problem detecting a vein and the nurse starts telling you that nothing is wrong and that you’re a special case. -___-
It reminded me of the moment’s time I had to extract bermany-many tooth for braces. Dad always always accompanied without fail despite me clawing him while the dentist does her thing, yanking out my tooth. I was so nervous and kept bugging Chris with what if questions. What if I pengsan halfway through donating? What if my blood stop flowing halfway? What if my blood got rejected? What if the nurse poked some artery instead of the supposed vein? What if the hall caught fire and I can’t run because of the stupid needle strapping me down to the chair? What if I took much longer time, would you leave? It could have happen right?
When I'm, nervous, I blab. Sorry :S
For the few subsequent minutes that seemed like hours, after the study mate had his fill of laughing his head out on me, the 350ml bag filled up with red liquid and the needle was removed. I could literally hear angels singing. Gawd.
I walked out dengan bangganya, a certified donor. HAHAHA. Saw that a not people. I can be an air head because I just can :D
Then after, I wasn't faint or dizzy, or passing out. Instead, I has this warm fuzzy feeling inside as the nurse packaged my blood up and bandaged my arm. Donating blood was the best feeling in the world, as I knew it would go to someone who really needed it.
Did you know, one pint of blood, which is what I donated, has the potential to save up to three people's lives, and most blood drives are for local people in need. With some something like that as an incentive, why not give?
Signing Off, A Half Coward but Proud Blood Donor.
P/s: I am still awaiting the day you and I give away our organs best friend ;)

Returning, again.
I feel like I'm torn apart into three different directions.
Lessons doesn't look too inviting right now, almost intimidating and I'll miss the comforts of home berbanyak-banyak and don't wanaa part with my recently accustomed to homely bed. Many have said I rant too much without noticing, ah ye ke? :S Fine la, I'm control-ING sikit the quota okaay.
I miss the uneconomical moments Sha and I would text despite the fact that we stay in the SAME block with four floors difference just to ask if I need a teman for lunch at the hostel canteen or whether can she have her Mortim Knockdown back after spotting a cockroach...
But it definitely doesn't beat the moments Tall Sister and I share. For instance, right now, she's feeding me chocolate cake while I patter away at the keyboard. When I'm back at Stapak, who's gonna delete the overflowing amount of spam mail for me now?! :S I almost forgive her for growing so tall and lanky.
And to the handful of friends I managed to squeeze in time to meet up with, you made my sem break, an awesome one. Thank you. I'll eloborate more on this later due to the lack of time and inspiration. Heh.
Sue me for having a love-hate relationship with Stapak will ya?

Shoot The Moon
I was awestruck by its beauty. I don't know if it was officially a full moon or not but it was very close and very bright. Once again it was a cloudless and perfect sky. Somehow, though, it felt sad. Maybe it was because of the single star on it's right. I couldn't help but think that all of its brightness was being missed by everyone and it was oddly lonely.
I love eves of full moons because the beams fill up the night and it’s not as dark. Or maybe, it's just the KL City lights :P
To continue from my last post.... I truly believe, I jinx myself. All the time. And I never learn from it. Each and every single time I truly believe things is finally going my way, it defies me and does the totally opposite.
And I am still angry. I keep telling myself that it’s no use getting so affected by things I cannot control. One of those BB guns would be really good just about now.

P.S: I'm Happy, Get Lost
“You know everything about me.
You say you can’t live without me.”
'Any chick, no matter how reprehensible in appearance, gains ten points of hotness if she’s wearing white bottoms. '
Because I am insane, the other day, I bought a pair of white pants and am under the delusion that I will be able to keep them white.
I was so hyped up about the white pant magic I wore them to class the other morning. White pants are a bad idea particularly when your period suddenly decides to pay a visit. Period, I hate you.
Anyhow, my week has been pleasantly satisfying. Little things amuse me. Like how the other day nearly half my classmates wore black tee’s as if we had planned it the night before. Coincidences are funny things. Agree much?
I've also been receiving one too many unanticipated texts and calls from people I usually hear from when they have a hidden agenda in mind. Out of the blue. But all they wanted was to say hi and chat and nit-nat stuffs. All this is so mind boggling. If this continues, period days aren't so awful after all. Heehee. I feel as if life has finally come into place for me. *smiles*
The weekend was filled with hidden surprises in every crook and canny possible. Scrumptious cheesecake and last minute dinner invitations definitely peppered my weekend with smiles and laughter. I spent a huge portion of my Sunday, not being home. Definitely contradicts with my reason for coming home during the weekends. Adoi.
Lately, I have been flickering like a television with a cracko antenna. Satellite dish bermasalah. But today particularly had my happy indicator blinking and bleeping like mad compared to the handful of YS moments I managed to scraped in between weekends in Subang.
I just feel so happy lah, really.
The mission for the afternoon was the pindah furniture into YS’s newhome.
Sounds easy?
That’s the catch, it sounded simple.
Hah. I wish!
It went far complicated then that but I enjoyed every moment of it down to the grittiest bit. From being teased as an ex-NS muscle woman, sitting in between a ‘what do you think about…’ interrogation, sipping ‘teh kundur’ while laughing over lame-o jokes, holding open doors for the big strong men carting unbelievably heavy furniture from the third floor, scrubbing dust and rust stained cabinets that just utterly refuse to remove itself despite the amount of brushing until hands turn red and raw, turning screw, bolts and nuts into place, discovering the joys of classical music crash course in fifteen minutes by the one and only Jin Hwa, and finally savoring our well deserved meal: a measly piece of roti planta..
As odd as it seems and despite the probability of waking up with a backache is mountain high, I enjoyed my day.
Shya yg cute,
Xian yg jauh lebih cute drp mu tibatiba amatlah merindumu =P
Shya kena jaga diri di tmptnyg far away from home ya.

Happenstance
Yesterday, by a twist of fate, I literally bumped into Emiraldi.
Yeah, A Malay.
Dumbfounded? So was I.
All I could say was ‘what are you doing here’. Rude, I know.
Me: Eh OMB! Amin!
Amin: Ehh.. Szetoo!
Me: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
Amin: On the way to sports complex. You?
Me: No, what are you doing HERE?
Amin: Hah. Studying la.
Me: You’re studying here? But…why?
Amin: Ala. You racist is it?
I'm hardly racist laa. Two months of NS has made me what I am today. Ngah.
It’s amazing. Really. I respect you la Amin. For me, as a Chinese who has an inability of conversing in my mother tongue is facing difficulty conversing and communicating. And to imagine, he’s been here, and surviving, for the past month. Waaaah.
And so, we met up for the dinner, the poor fellow got no teman makan.
In his text, it said: ‘8pm, the halal canteen’. I must be breathing in blur gas the past three weeks or walking around wearing sunshades because I had no idea a halal canteen existed! Blur indeed.
One of the few things that fell out of his mouth was his dislike for the A Level kids. Too studious for his liking, apparently. Hahahahaha! Where got people rather eat alone than listen to people go on and on about unfinished tutorial homework? Sigh. You should take a leaf out of their books, Em.
In the duration of just one dinner session with Amin, the number of ‘sweat’ moments he left me speechless is…..
Aaah, the joy of having a Subang friend for company is indescribable :) At least, he catches my jokes. And we share the similar opinion on numerous matters. Hah!
On a random note, I’d like to know who from Cyprus reads my blog. I’m super duper fascinated to know. Amazed in fact. Can Cyprusians even understand English?
Have you heard Sum 41’s With Me? If you haven’t, download it this instant. It’s addictive.
