Life's Short, Talk Fast

Fun fact for the day(week): I hereby declare Milo as the king of flavored dairy drinks.
:D

Yeaa, this fact has far more importance than my wellbeing. Kalau nak tau sangat pick up the phone la, don't la grumble grumble here and there. Malas nak layan tau.

Fridays and Life

7 August 2009

This is an attempt resuscitate my level of English and stimulate my brain juices. Because, it seems that I have forgotten how to write more than four paragraphs. Sometimes, when I’m deep in a conversation, I find it difficult to find words to express myself no matter how many brain scans I’ve done. And that, is bad.

Weishya presents to you: ‘A life as me on a Friday’

Jumps out of bed at 7.42am. Precisely 18 minutes before my class. I don’t usually wake up this late but my alarm seems to have malfunctioning problem on Wednesdays and Fridays (days with 8am classes). Goes ‘oh shit, oh shit for twenty seconds or so’ and proceeds to the toilet with dishevelled hair, berus gigi, jumps into a pair of jeans and shoves everything I see into backpack. Am about to walk out but tummy makes a funny rumbling echo so I u-turned and dengan kepantasan kilat, I sapu peanut butter with grape jelly atas roti and dash out, waking the roommate in the process. Walks towards hostel gates, bread in mouth, and persistently calling the other three people I go classes with. Two of them are still in bed, and one of them is patiently waiting.

On better days, three of us will be awake, eyes ¾ open, throw in a grumble or two while awaiting Sheryl to appear and will be walking out the gates at five minutes before eight. When classes aren’t so unpleasantly early in the morning, we have time to shove down a proper lunch at the canteen nearby. Nothing that awesome, I can assure you that much.

More often than not, the evil security guards will harass us for Ids which is often found after severe poking and prodding within the bagpack. The said ID will be located at the very bottom of everything else. I always always feel obliged to flash my ID while the rest will buat bodoh and walk pass as if they were flies. :(

Random chatter will fill in the void silence. It usually start with queries of ‘what you did last night’ and ‘what time you slept wor’ feigning concern as to why the other party is in the current sleep deprived state. In real fact, the true intentions behind such questions are to unravel how many hours the person studied last night. Yeah, we’re kiasu like that. The conversation will then bounce about to other common topics like antics of Lulu (Sook Huei’s pet hamster), Sheryl and her unfathomable obsession with body parts, Sha and her phone bill, and there’s me with the latest item I misplaced and am yet to recover. Our conversation also includes: mutual friends whereabouts, who brought umbrella, who’s going/not going back this weekend, which idiot got caught in the girls block, family affairs, state of hunger, money crisis, and impending tests. It varies from the time of the day and moods of individuals. Usually, the return of test results will bring about a swing of bad moods from a particular somebody. Not me okay! I knew what was going through your head.

And well, you’re wrong.

Walking to PA block from hostel takes 12-15mins. Walking to the other end of college for a morning class I hardly find beneficial is so very unmotivating. Then, it takes longer to get to class cause we tend to drag our feet. Not literally lah.

English class. One word: SIGH. Sometimes I listen to a bit of music, sometimes I don’t. Instead, I sit and stare blankly at the teacher. Dozing off every couple of seconds. But I know what’s going on in class la okay. Like today, we learned on writing memorandums, the sample given was on switching job advertising methods to save cost or something like that. And there’s homework too. English homework. I feel like I’m in preschool all over again. Classes are from 8am to 930pm. Then I take a toilet break before heading to law tutorial from 930am to 11am.

Law is another sleep inducing subject. I use to find it interesting, until all the memorizing came into picture. Gah. Don’t feel like elaborating now lah but you get the picture lah. In class I ate the apple that I brought to class, presented my tutorial answers, copied things the board and stare into blank space.

Then I take my time to walk to library to borrow/return/renew books, use free internet and what not, grab lunch, walk back hostel for a nap during the two hour break in between and back to college for lecture.

Nearly three hours of lecture non-stop. Incredibly boring okay. More law, followed by computers. Aih. Lepas tu I make my way back hostel. I feel a rush of accomplishment for surviving the week. Undergoing many many frus moments, making sudden decisions and such. :)

Like many of the weeks before, I don’t go back but opt to stay back and study. To defend myself, I have two tests next week!

I unlock my door, undress and feel hungry. Except there’s no food and I'm starved.

And that’s only my Fridays. Mondays are yet another interesting day to tell.

Foodventure

23 July 2009

I don’t know why I never ever learn from the consequences of pulling an all-nighter… because I seem to find myself in the same predicament time and time again.

Constant procrastination in all forms. But that doesn’t mean I regret throwing away two perfectly productive hours by going to the pasar malam. It's a fifteen minute drive from my place but I've only been there like what...four times?

I had fun, the non-study kind too.

Taiwan sausages

In between ooh-ing and ahh-ing over fried mushrooms and keropok lekor, I managed to catch up with an old old classmate :)

Soaking in the sinful smell of asam laksa, dim sum, china burgers, tapai, fried chicken, taufu bakar I will NEVER find a liking for, popiahpopiahpopiahs!, air kelapa, honey dew flavored bubble milk tea, beef rendang, kuih talam, satayy, chicken floss bun, and curry fishballs already made my evening.

Euphoric smells. Nobody can hardly feel depressed in a place like this. Minus the Chau Taufu smells, walking down the street was alike walking on cloud nine.

RM1.20 air tebu

Cutesy tarts

Carrot cake

Curry fishballs, try one today!

This time around, I encountered food beyond the usual apam balik, corn in cups, keropok lekor and cuppy shaped ice creams. And there’s no going back I tell you :)

<3

Fried stuffs

Sataaaay

Ever wondered how chicken butt taste like? Never did until somebody asked me to bungkuskan balik -.-"

Pasar malam isn't a pasar malam without the drinks of a variety of colour. Every pasar malam I go also got wan. Just looking at them makes me feel overdosed with sugar :(

Bebola tepung yang berisi kacang.

Mua Chi. RM2 for plain ones, RM3 for flavored ones.

Later that night I found out Eric’s group selected their assignment topic only the day before. I felt waaaay relief. Hahahaha.

You know you're screwed when you feel better after realizing others are nowhere near finishing their work. And you're well, almost there.

Just so you know, I finished the assignment 3pm the following day and I couldn't fall sleep after that! After assignment accomplishment rush I suppose. :)
